Shrimpers striker Charlie Kelman pleased to help Run Free

SOUTHEND United starlet Charlie Kelman has urged those suffering with mental health issues to speak out.

The 18-year-old striker was a surprise guest at the latest ‘Run Free’ training session.

And Kelman, who attracted an offer from Tottenham Hotspur during the previous campaign, is keen to stay involved with the initiative.

“Mental health is quite close to home for me and my family,” said Kelman.

“Whenever I see people who are suffering I do everything I can to help.

“Everyone has their own issues and I’ve had mine.

"But being able to talk about it has really helped me.

“A lot of people don’t talk about how they’re feeling and they bottle up their emotions but that doesn’t help.

“The PFA have been helping out and the fact people are starting to talk more is really helping the game.”

Kelman’s involvement with ‘Run Free’ will be fully revealed in the next few weeks.
